Hi all,

First off, Happy New Year! Thank you for making last year so great, despite all of the turbulence in the world around us. As we enter into 2021, we're gearing up for a busy year, and we felt the best way to start it off was to address your feedback.

We appreciate all of your responses to our composer survey earlier this month, and noticed a few echoed sentiments we'd like to improve on based on your collective feelings.

Frequent Briefs

Over the past couple years, as our clients' timelines got shorter and shorter, we've started pitching more from the catalog internally and sending out briefs less. We're at the point now where it's really rare that we send out briefs, and you let us know this often leaves you in the dark on what material is and isn't in demand.

This year, we're putting more of a focus on frequent briefs, whether for specific projects, holes in the catalog, or for brands that we work with/pitch to frequently. Our goal is to get you an average of 2 briefs per week, totaling around 100 additional opportunities a year. We hope this lets you more into the loop, and adds additional direction to the kinds of tracks we're in need of.

Communication

A majority of your notes that came back had to do with a lack of communication on our end, so we're committed to having a more open channel with you this year. Although our volume of work makes it tough to respond to every submission, we're looking for more areas to provide feedback for your music when applicable. Even with our efforts, there will still be cases where you don't hear back from us after submitting, but you can be sure it's because your track sounds great and is already being set up for pitching.

We're also strategizing the best way to give you insights on pitch history and trends for your tracks, as we recognize this is currently a huge hurdle in knowing how your music is performing. We'll keep you in the loop as we learn more about our process for implementing this.

To summarize all of the above, you're going to be hearing from us a lot more this year. We value all of your contributions as members of the SAS family, and want it to feel that way for you as well. Thank you as always for your patience and insight - it's incredibly useful to us.

Sincerely,

The SAS Team
